How to change App Icon in android - 2021


There are many ways to change app icons and personalize your mobile phone. Some basic ways are to install an external mobile launcher app and change apps icon by setting-up the launcher. And another way is by installing the app icon changer application (.apk) that can change the app icon.


Is changing app icon secure or legal?

Yes! Changing app icon is totally secure and legal. changing app icon and name will not affect your mobile performance and any other setting. It will just personalize your mobile phone and make your mobile more eye-friendly. You will be modified as your choice and manage the color scheme of the menu page.

(Note: I'm using Icon Changer Free my choice. You can use another. The steps will be the same)

What are the steps?

Firstly download the most suitable and simple app from the internet and open it.notesnotes


     After download complete, Open the icon changer. It will show the interface showing in the following image. Thereafter click on the second option as "Select Apk from app" to select the app from the installed applications.

     from the list of applications, you installed. Here, you will see the icon, name, and package name of tye applications. select one to change the Icon. Here you can simply search the app name at the bottom. so, you can find it more easily.

After selecting app to change app icon, it'll ask for an edit type, Select the "common edit" to change only icon and name of the app


Options to edit

Selecting an app to change the icon, it shows this interface. I'm selected the WhatsApp for showing you how it works. Here you have got two options for setting up the new icon.

One to change the icon and the second one is to change the app name also. Now, click on the app icon showing at the lift corner. It will open the storage, as showing above in the right image. select the square image by opening the folder and clicking on the image you want to set as a new app icon.

After selecting a new app icon it will show the preview of the icon at the same edit interface. So, you can confirm the new icon. in the following way.

If you want to change the app name also. You can simply erase the showing name and type the name that you want to set as the new one. After completing all the above procedures. Then simply click on the "Save" button.

Icon Changer will start work on the project and here you have to wait for just 20-30 seconds for completing.

When It's done, It'll look like the below image. you'll get the path where the new app has saved. Here you will the middle option "Install" to install the app right now. the edited and set up a new icon app will be shown. simply install it and your application will be live after install complete.

Using External Mobile Launcher

Changing app icon by using an external mobile launcher, firstly you have to download a launcher from any source of internet. install it and open it. Explore the launcher or skip it.
Set this launcher as the default launcher of your mobile.

(Note: I'm writing as Nova Launcher. The Procedure may be vary from the launcher to launcher)
You can install the launcher from Google PlayStore and other Third-party apk providers.

After setting up an external launcher as default launcher of your mobile. Go to the app drawer. There will you all applications you installed on your mobile phone. Choose the application that you want to change app icon. Long press on the old app icon on the menu drawer. these will show three option as following


Click on the "Edit" option and further click on the app icon showing on the left side. This will be open a new full screen. press on the icon and choose where from pick up a new app icon. Set the image you selected by cropping or adjusting in the given square.















Let's take a look at the preview of the new icon. When you are sure to top set this one to a new app icon, click on the "Done"  button. Your new Icon will be set in a quick moment. Also, you can change an app name also like the same way.











This way will only work till you set this launcher as default for your mobile. When you remove from Default or uninstall this launcher. the app will be showing its original icon and name.
